CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale cross country team competed against North Putnam and Eminence Thursday night, coming away with a win and a loss. The girls' team won with a total of 24 points and the boys lost to Eminence. North Putnam field incomplete teams for both races.
In the girls' race, Cloverdale's Jenna Lewis ran away from the pack with a time of 22:05, finishing a minute ahead of teammate Brynlea Mattock's time of 23:10. Alyssa Williams finished in fifth-place with a time of 25:20, while Ashley McCallie came in sixth in a time of 26:12. Samantha Monnett rounded out the CHS runners in 10th place with a time of 35:43.
North Putnam's Whitney High lead the Cougar attack, finishing in third with a time of 24:22, with Hillary Salyers ending the night in eighth-place in a time of 30:01. Dakota Parent came in ninth with the time of 31:58 and Mandy Preecs finished 11th in a time of 41:45.
For the boys', North Putnam's Kenny Quisenberry was the counties top finisher, coming in second with a time of 19:11. Kenny Benge was fourth for the Cougars, grabbing fourth in a time of 20:01. Korey Cooper finished the nigh in 12th with a time of 22:18.
Cloverdale's high finisher was Ryan Dean was placed third with a time of 19:51. Cloverdale would have three more runners place in the top ten.
James Fidler ran a 20:38 in seventh-place, Chris Arnold clocked a 21:07 for ninth and Kyle Chambers was 10th with a time of 21:47. Nick Monds finished in 13th position in a time of 22:25 and Brian Stout was 16th with a time of 25:45.
Cloverdale and North Putnam will next compete in the county meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
