Putnam County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

• Larry Junior Pierce, 26, Las Vegas, Nev., was booked in at 2:53 a.m. Monday by Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Craig Sibbett on an out of county hold.

• Colby Louis Brown, 26, Marion, Ill., was booked in at 9:31 a.m. Monday by Greencastle Police Department Capt. Mike Hanlon on a petition to revoke probation.

• Paul Parsley, 67, Indianapolis, was booked in at 11:24 a.m. Monday by jail staff on an out of county hold.

Sheriff’s Dept.

Two accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Dept.

• Jeffrey R. Brown, 29, Greencastle, reported a car-deer crash to Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies Sunday morning.

Brown told Deputy Virgil Lanning at about 8:22 a.m. that he was driving east on County Road 350 North near County Road 600 West when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle, according to a police report. He was unable to brake in time and hit the deer.

The collision caused between $1,000 and $2,500 in damages.

• At 6:50 a.m. Thursday, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Virgil Lanning responded to a single vehicle crash at County Road 1000 South near County Road 425 East.

Debra K. Gruener, 51, of Cloverdale, said she was driving west on County Road 1000 South when a large tree fell into the road, according to a police report. Gruener was unable to stop and hit the tree, causing $750 to $1,000 in damage to her 1993 Chevy Caprice.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to several recent runs.

On Friday:

• At 9:40 p.m., firefighters went to 2601 Ind. 240 (IAC) for an alarm. They found nothing, reset the alarm and returned to the station at 10:42 p.m.

On Saturday:

• At 11:39 a.m., firefighters responded to Greencastle Middle School (400 S. First St.) for an alarm. They were disregarded en route and returned to the station at 11:44 a.m.

• At 12:01 p.m., an alarm sounded at Putnam County Hospital (1542 Bloomington St.). Nothing was found and they returned to the station at 12:11 p.m.

On Monday:

• At 6:58 a.m., firefighters were called to assist Fillmore with a car accident at CR 700 East and Ind. 240. They were disregarded en route and returned to the station at 7:02 a.m.
