Born in Greencastle, he was the son of Samuel and Maude Maxine (Lady) Dickey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.
He worked at Putnam County Highway Department as a driver and then for the Greencastle Fire Department for eight years.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Green and husband Jim, Greencastle; a caregiver, Wanda Lady, Greencastle; two step-daughters, Serita Majors and Melody West, both of Greencastle; three sisters, Judy Ray and husband Howard, Greencastle, Pam Jones and husband Charlie, Reelsville, and Vicky Beams and husband Bud, Reelsville; a brother, Bill Lady and wife Cammie, Greencastle; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with military rites.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until the services Thursday.
