Greencastle wins bowling team title

Friday, February 1, 2008

After battling through a close race with South Putnam during the latter part of the season, the Greencastle High School bowling team pulled out the Putnam County Sectional team championship Thursday night at Alex Alleys.

The team of Matt Cox, Jacob Ensor, Michael Rumley, Cody Fulford and Hayden Rogers bowled a 2,421, winning the sectional by more than 250 pins.

South Putnam was second with a 2,158. Cloverdale rolled a 1,826 and North Putnam was fourth with 1,735.

The Greencastle team as well as individuals who advanced Wednesday, will play in the Evansville Regional on Feb. 9. Team events begin at 9 a.m. and individual events begin at 2 p.m. at Franklin Lanes in Evansville.

"CONGRATULATION" Greencastle High School Bowlers and to all Putnam County Bowlers who participated in the first year of High School Bowling. Let's hope the area schools back this program in the future. Gook Luck in Regionals and "Strike Out". (In Bowler's language that's a good thing)
