Shirley A. Wheeler

Mrs. Shirley Anne Wheeler, 73 of Greencastle, died Thursday morning at the St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Goodman) Stites. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School. She married Elvin Frederick "Fred" Wheeler on Nov. 21, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2007.

Mrs. Wheeler had been a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Eiteljorge and husband, Arlen of Terre Haute, Janet Jordan of Greencastle, and Beth Arnold and husband, Tim of Coatesville; a sister, Sue Newgent and husband, Bob of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brother, Donald Stites and wife, Phyllis of Odessa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Charles "Chick" Stites; and a sister, Ruth Hanneman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Pastor Alan Small officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
