VanRensselaer, Terry to perform at Parkfest Tuesday
Mike VanRensselaer and Steve Terry will perform at this Tuesday's ParkFest at Robe Ann Park beginning at 7 p.m.
Robe Ann Park will be filled with the sounds of a folk duo this Thursday at 7 p.m.
Duo Mike VanRensselaer and Steve Terry play acoustic old time folk sounds with guitar, mandolin and banjo all intertwined with harmonizing vocals.
The duo has performed at festivals, schools, coffee shops, farmers' markets and other venues over the past two decades.
They were also the opening act in the first ParkFest series back in 1994.
"The concert will cover plenty of musical ground," VanRensselaer said. "We will be playing selections ranging from traditional ballads and gospel to an original Terry tune, stopping along the way at songs from such artists as Elizabeth Cotton, Grandpa Jones, Huddie "Leadbelly" Ledbetter, Bob Dylan and Tom Paxton."
The duo has been busy so far this spring. They have played in Bloomington for a St. Patrick's Day performance, followed by an April program at the Putnam County Public Library featuring Indiana folk songs. Several of these songs will be played at Tuesday's performance.
The public is invited to attend this free concert and should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
Co-sponsors for the summer concert series are the Greencastle Civic League and Park and Recreation Dept.
