He was born on July 19, 1921 in Putnam County to Claude and Edith Barnard Carmichael.
Mr. Carmichael served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate. He married Marilynn M. Herbert on Dec. 24, 1944.
Mr. Carmichael was a butcher at Oakley's, Kroger and the Stop-N-Shop.
His parents, and a sister, Wanita Drake preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Marilynn M. Carmichael; a daughter, Joyce Coffey and husband, Robert of Cedar Park, Texas; a son, Joe Carmichael of Greencastle and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
