GHS placed fifth at Warrior Classic

SCOTTSBURG -- Grapplers from Greencastle High School wrestled their way to a fifth place finish at the Scottsburg Warrior Classic this past Friday and Saturday. GHS finished the day with a 6-4 record and a lone individual champion.

Greencastle's six wins came against Danville (39-33), Southwestern (43-28), Chatard (43-30), Washington (51-18), Mitchell (51-30) and Edgewood (51-18).

Jacob Wright wrestled his way to a 9-1 record on the day and earned Scottsburg Warrior Classic Champion. Kyle Buchanan posted an 8-1 record, while Tyler Rickenbaugh went 7-3. Andy Harrison had a record of 6-2, Jesse Ford 6-3 and Ben Hesler ended the day at 4-4.

Trevor Teal, Tommy Downing and Jesse Vermillion went 6-4 on the day for the Tiger Cubs.

Greencastle will be back in action this Thursday at the Putnam County Tournament at Cloverdale. Action is set to begin a 5 p.m.
