She was born in Greencastle on April 11, 1922, the daughter of the late Senator Andrew E. and Aura Sawyer Durham. Ann was supposed to be a son and named after her father. The name Ann was a nice girl's name, so the problem was solved by naming her Ann Drew.
She was a 1940 graduate of Greencastle High School and obtained her BA at DePauw University in 1940, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She then moved to California, where she was employed by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios in the Scenario Department.
She was a war bride and married Ralph M. Weinrichter in La Jolla, Calif. on Aug. 2, 1945 when he got a 10-day leave while his ship was in port.
After the war, Ralph graduated from DePauw with a BA in economics. The couple then moved to Menlo Park, Calif., where Ralph was employed with Del Monte Corporation.
Mrs. Weinrichter was active in the Woodside-Atherton Auxiliary for children, benefiting the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. She enjoyed cooking, needlework, sewing and social bridge.
Survivors include her husband, daughter Kathryn Weinrichter-Sundeen and husband Leo, brother J. Frank Durham, sister Aura May Durham and a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces, etc.
Ann will be buried in a family plot in Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.
