The Eagles Lodge 4388 donated $1,000 Thursday to the Greencastle Police Department's Shop With A Cop program, which will take place at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Walmart. Eagles president Rick Hassler, second from left, presented GPD Chief Tom Sutherlin with the donation. Present at the donation were (front, from left) GPD Sgt. Chris Jones, Sutherlin, Hassler, Eagles trustee Glen Zimmerman, (middle) GPD officers Nick Eastham and Jeff Madelin, GPD Detective Mike Collins Eagles trustee Larry McKeigue, (back) GPD Petty Officer Ed Wilson, Eagles Outside Guard William Warren, and Eagles trustee Tom Rector. The Shop With A Cop program is in its 10th year and provides an opportunity for kids to have a positive interaction with a police officer. Through the program, area children in need receive school supplies, clothing and shoes.

I think this is awesome, I know a couple of the officers and the need for them to maintain respect from younger generations is extremely important. A lot children now days see their parents or freinds getting hauled away and no matter what it is always the officers fault.

I have never been hauled away and have had several tickets and pullovers (all where my fault) My hat goes off to every Law Enforcement Person out there who is willing to risk there lives for those who could care less about anything.Let alone the officer.

God be with them in the line of duty
