She was born Oct. 14, 1927 in Poland, the daughter of Edward P. Green and Mae Tapy Green. She graduated from Van Buren High School and was the class valedictorian of 1945.
On June 19, 1945, she married Robert E. Parsons. Robert had a position with the Indiana Correctional Facility at Putnamville, so the family lived on site for many years. Viola was one who believed in education, and in 1991 she achieved her B.S. degree from Indiana State University in business.
Mrs. Parsons enjoyed crossword puzzles, word games, playing euchre and had lately found enjoyment in learning about Wii games, especially bowling. She had a talent for counted cross-stitch projects and making crafted dish cloths for family and friends.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
