Dance Workshop offers free Fitness Fusion class
GREENCASTLE -- Dance Workshop will be hosting a free Fitness Fusion class for the public at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Tara Gardner and Lita Sandy with Dance Workshop have been offering the class, which features the Zumba technique, since August.
"Fitness Fusion is a super fun, not-so-typical exercise class with the Zumba technique, Latin, hip hop and a little bit of dance all fused together," said Gardner. "It is a full-body workout, including cardio."
Zumba is dance and exercise set to Latin music featuring dances such as the Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue and more. The staff has also "fused" other types of dance and music into the program to make it their own.
Additionally, Dance Workshop offers toning with weights prior to some of the Fitness Fusion classes. Instructors for the toning class are Karen Evans and Tawny Harris.
"You can expect to have fun, sweat and lose weight," said Sandy about Fitness Fusion. "You will feel good about yourself and you will become addicted."
The classes run 45 to 60 minutes and are offered seven days per week plus two "on the go" classes at local schools. Class times are 7:30 p.m. on Mondays; 9 a.m., 4:45 and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays; 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursdays; and at 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
"This is the most fun form of exercise I have ever taken part in," Gardner said.
Following the free Friday class, participants are invited to the Blue Door Café at its new location, 302 E. Washington St., for coffee, tea or baked goods.
"We ask those attending the free class to bring canned goods for the Putnam County Food Pantry," Sandy added.
Dance Workshop is located in the old Opera House, 10-12 S. Jackson St., on the downtown square. Blue Door and Dance Workshop are sponsoring the free Fitness Fusion class.
