Gary L. Smith of Reelsville passed away at his home on Sunday, March 7, 2010 after a long illness.
He was the son of Robert V. Smith and Alma Jewell, both deceased.
Gary served his country in the U.S. Army in the 8th Infantry division beginning in 1963 and finished his term of service in the 58th Transport Division, where he earned a Silver Certificate of Safety. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Gary was a member of Mt. Hebron Church in Cloverdale and was a truck driver for RCA for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Liz; his children Gary L. Smith Jr. of Brownsburg, Richard W. Smith of Avon, Jennifer D. Smith of Bloomington and one stepson, Nathan L. Cross of Bowling Green; three brothers, Wayne V. Smith of Springville, Mike James of Reelsville and Bob James of Virginia; and two sisters, Sandy Saulter of Indianapolis and Teresa Wall Brockman of Indianapolis.
Memorial services are being held today at Lakeview Christian Church, 46 Beechwood Drive, Indianapolis, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family suggests donations to the Horizon Hospice in Danville in lieu of flowers.
