Area 30 tops the charts

GREENCASTLE -- Area 30 Career Center has a lot to be proud of.

In the state of Indiana, there are 48 vocational districts. Of these 48, Area 30 ranks third in eight categories of student achievement.

All high schools offer career and technical education programs through their local vocational districts. Area 30 provides CTE programs for Eminence High School in Morgan County, Owen Valley High School in Owen County and all four Putnam County schools, North Putnam, South Putnam, Cloverdale and Greencastle.

Every year, data is collected for all vocational districts based on eight core indicators of performance. These indicators are the basis for "grading" each area career center. The core indicators include levels of academic attainment in reading and language arts and math, technical skill attainment, high school completion and graduation rates, placement in postsecondary education, training, military service or employment and nontraditional (underrepresented gender groups in career areas) participation and completion.

Levels of attainment are defined by the state, and once all data is collected, a dashboard report is put together to show how well each vocational district is doing in meeting its goals.

Teachers and staff at Area 30 Career Center take their task of preparing students for a bright and successful future very seriously. Curriculum is constantly being revised and updated to meet the needs of changes and trends in related career areas.

Opportunities for growth in both specific career areas, as well as general skills needed for success, are constantly being sought. It is Area 30's mission to educate students and help guide them to make good sound choices about postsecondary opportunities to ensure a great career.

"Area 30 Career Center is committed to continuing to provide excellent career and technical education programs for our local students," said Area 30 director Lora Wood. "Thanks to dedicated teachers and staff and the support of so many local business and industry partners, Area 30 will continue to provide excellence in education."

  • This is NOT your mom & dad's vocational school!

The programs available at Area 30 are fantastic...(wish they were available when I was in high school!)

    Congratulations on your continued success!
