Donations needed for Book Sale room at Putnam County Library

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Book sales have long been a popular form of fundraising for the Putnam County Public Library.

They help support a number of worthwhile events, including the Books for Babies program, Festival of the Book, and the ever-popular summer reading program, to name just a few.

In February, the PCPL Book Sale entered a new phase: the Friends of the Library decided to see what would happen if sale books were available for purchase each and every day.

The project has been successful beyond the wildest expectations of the organization.

The Book Sale Room, located at the rear of the Children's Department, is a welcoming and soothing oasis -- a place where patrons can browse at their leisure, make serendipitous discoveries, and help support PCPL's many community-wide activities, 50 cents or a dollar at a time.

In fact, the Book Sale Room has been such a success that FOL is asking for the public's help to keep the shelves filled. Please consider donating books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, VHS and music cassettes that you've finished with to the cause, and, while you're there, pick up a new mystery, biography, romance, picture book or cookbook to enjoy and then pass along.

Donations may be dropped at the circulation desk.
