John Edward Crosby, 81, of Roachdale died at his residence on Tuesday, June 30, 2010.
He was born on Sept 15, 1928 in Roachdale to Robert Stanley and Jean Heighway Crosby.
He was a 50-year member or the Roachdale Masonic Lodge, a member and deacon and elder of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church. He served on the first School Board of North Putnam Schools. He farmed in the Roachdale area all his life.
He married Lola Elizabeth Pickel on August 15, 1953 in Roachdale, and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Kathy (Dave) Bibby of Terre Haute, Carolyn (Tony) Hughes of Roachdale, Barb (Richard) Robbins of Roachdale and Jan (Randy) White of Bainbridge; one son, Jim (Brenda) Crosby of Roachdale, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; one brother Richard (Liz) Crosby of Roachdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandson, Michael Travis Robbins.
Services are planned for noon on Friday at the Roachdale Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. to noon. The Rev. Alan Small will officiate. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.
