Virginia E. Merrett, 89, Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. Virginia was a humble and prayerful servant as well as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Logan County, W.Va., on Dec. 11, 1921 to Mike and Verna DeWeese Radovich.

Many years ago, she worked in the cafeteria at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. She was a member of Gray Road Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for several years and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Greencastle.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Merrett on May 11, 1985; her parents; her daughter, Linda Miller; brother, James Radovich and a sister, Peggy Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Fran Shingleton (Mike) and her son, John Merrett (Kathy); grandchildren, Brian, Mark, Brent, Kevin, Amanda, Casie; great grandchildren, Kaylie, Jonathan, Noah, Jonah, Avery, Olivia, Mala, Phayth and Jazelyn.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery.
