Jonathon S. "Shad" Cox, 33, of Greencastle passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011. Shad was born on Nov. 24, 1977 in Brazil to John and Kathy Jordan Cox.
He was a longtime member of Carpenters Local #859 and was employed by Safeway Scaffolding. Shad would do anything for anybody, and he enjoyed having fun with his children and friends.
His grandparents, Lillie Cox, Alfred R. Cox and Jasper Jordan Jr., all of Brazil, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his parents; fiancée, Angela J. Rader; six beloved children, Zyan, Jonathon, Trevar, Calvin, Abigail and Sara; sister, Amber Smith and husband, Jesse of Houston, Tex.; his maternal grandmother, Gloria Jordan of Brazil; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A celebration of Shad's life will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Randy McNeely of First Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. At the family's request, please dress casually.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to the family for the children's benefit. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Donations may also be made at Member's Heritage Credit Union, Cox Kid's Account.
