GREENCASTLE -- The SAWs team of Greencastle Presbyterian Church is looking for handicap ramps to build in 2011.

The SAWs mission of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church builds ramps for the needy and disabled in Putnam County. These ramps help people who are trapped in their homes due to their disabilities. Many of these people can only leave their homes with the help of EMS.

The mission of SAWs is to free these people from their entrapment.

Last year, SAWs built nine ramps at no cost to the recipients. The objective for 2011 is to build 20 ramps. To date, there have been only nine potential ramps identified for the 2011 build season.

SAWs is looking for candidates to help meet the objective. With 918,000 disabled people in the State of Indiana and 187,000 of those living at or below the poverty level, there must be more than nine people in need of this mission.

However, this year SAWs has added a fundraising option that permits those who are able to purchase a ramp from SAWs. Funds from this option permit SAWs to help more of those who can't afford a needed ramp.

If SAWs does not help these people, who will?

Contact the Greencastle Presbyterian Church office at 653-5713 or churchoffice@cinergymetro.net for information or to request help from SAWs.
