An attempted break-in at a storage unit at Dyno-Store Self Storage, 2 Cedar Drive, was reported to Greencastle City Police.

Officer Darrel Bunten was called to the scene at noon Friday after owner Christine Berliner discovered damage to one unit. The door was damaged and the hasp smashed in an attempt to raise the door and gain access to the unit.

Although nothing was reportedly stolen from the unit, damage to the door and hasp was estimated at $1,000-$1,500.

In an incident that occurred early Sunday, two 16-year-old juveniles were taken into custody on the Greencastle Walmart store property after a foot pursuit. The juveniles were charged with being runaways, while one also faces charges of theft and resisting arrest.

The runaways were reported missing at 9:50 p.m. Saturday and were apprehended at 12:30 a.m. Sunday by Officer Eric Vaughan with assistance from Reserve Officer Jerett Query, Putnam County Sheriff Steve Fenwick and Deputy Mike Downing.

In an incident reported at 3:12 a.m. Monday, Capt. Charles Inman stopped a vehicle driven by Chapin Manning, 24, Greencastle, on Bloomington Street and cited the driver for having a false or fictitious registration.

Hanlon had been parked in the last parking space along the north side of the square and did not see the vehicle behind him as he backed out.
