Mrs. Dorothy A. York, 80, of Greencastle, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Putnam County Hospital.

Born June 26, 1930 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Frank Albert and Ida Elizabeth (Nelson) Dreyer. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School Class of 1948 and the Central Business College of Indianapolis. She married John York on June 9, 1951 and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1997.

Dorothy had been a homemaker, a secretary at DePauw University, and Red Cross of Indiana. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Robin (Doug) Wilson, Robert (Pam) York and Roy (Malinda) York, all of Greencastle, and Rebecca (Tony) Criss of Reelsville; seven grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Wilson, Heidi York, Megan Criss, Dustin York, Nathan Criss, Bailey York and Hannah York; and two great grandchildren, Kinzee and Keifer Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, James Andrew York; brothers, Robert and Thomas Dreyer, a sister, Mary Leslie; and her aunt, Margaret Nelson whom had raised her.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. William Best officiating. A Moose Lodge Memorial walk-thru will be held at 6:45 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. on Tuesday until time of services.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
