Run/walk event again slated for parade route

The seventh annual Parade of Fitness Run and Walk will take place Friday, July 22 beginning at 6 p.m. -- just prior to the start of the Putnam County Fair Parade.

The 1.5-mile race will begin at the Putnam County Courthouse south entrance, and runners will continue on Washington Street before returning to the courthouse.

Runners of all ages are encouraged to compete, and awards will be given to the top three finishers in the men's, women's and children's divisions. The children's division will consist of eighth-graders and under.

The pre-registration fee is $12 (by mail and postmarked before July 18). Proceeds will be donated to the Putnam County 4-H.

Participants can also register at 5:30 p.m. the day of the race for $15 on the south steps of the courthouse.

Pre-registration forms are available at Bright Futures, Greencastle Aquatic Center, the Putnam County Library, Headley Hardware and Dairy Castle. Checks should be made payable to Matt and Karen Headley, 129 Hilltop Lane, Greencastle, IN 46135.
