Saturday, September 10, 2011

In 1833 the Runyan family donated land for a church and graveyard in Putnam County. In 1834 the New Providence School was erected from poplar logs to form the schoolhouse

Then in 1836 a log cabin church was built and the New Providence Baptist Church was started.

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the 175th year celebration on Saturday, Sept. 17, beginning at 5 p.m. with music, beans and cornbread and fellowship.

Then on Sunday, Sept. 18, starting at 1 p.m. there will be games, live music and pitch-in lunch.
