Tony Virgilio win at Crossroads Dragway

Crossroads Dragway in Terre Haute recently held the first of five races of the Fast 33 at the 330, along with regular Summit E.T. points racing on May 19.

Brad Miles captured the Low Qualifier spot for a moment in the Fast series as his engine let go near the finish line during the first round of qualifying. Cloverdale's Tony Virgilio took over the Low Qualifier spot with a 2.93 second ET and marched his way to victory in the final over Adam Price. Jake Hodge took the Super-Pro win over Todd Stillwell and Mike Tewell won Pro over Steve Conrad.

Mike's son, Austin Tewell, lost the final in Sportsman to Adam Price and his daughter, Amara Tewell, took the High School class win over Alan Grayless III.

Memorial Day weekend starts out tonight with the Scheid Diesel Fri Night series and Fun Night with gates opening at 6 p.m. and eliminations at 8 p.m. for the Diesel trucks. Track closes at 10 p.m.

Saturday will be a special race for the Pro class dubbed the Bernie Mann Memorial Big Bucks No Box Classic with regular points racing for all other classes including Jr. Dragsters. The Bernie Mann Memorial event, sponsored by Grizzly INC, features a $4,000 payout to the winner of the Pro class.

Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. with time runs at 11:30 a.m. and eliminations should begin about 4 p.m. and last throughout the evening. It will be an entire day and evening full of wheel-standing, heart-pounding, drag-racing action.
