Food drive to benefit food pantry begins Monday

A food drive to benefit the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry will be held from Monday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Dec. 7.

At Home Realty, Bret Hurley Construction, Civil Engineering Consultants and Heather Taylor State Farm are sponsoring the drive.

Putnam County Food Bank serves approximately 60,000 meals a year with eight percent of Putnam County's 38,000 people below the poverty level, there is no shortage of need.

Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at 1285 S. Jackson St in Greencastle.

The sponsoring businesses will show their appreciation for a food donation by entering the donor's name into drawings for $50 gift cards. One gift card will be awarded each Friday during the duration of the food drive.

Some of the food items needed include, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned tuna, powdered milk, canned chicken, instant oatmeal, Spam, boxed cake and cookies, corn, green beans, noodles, carrots, rice, soups, dried beans, pork and beans, boxed macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce and boxed mashed potatoes.
