Tiger Cubs begin regional quest Saturday

The Greencastle girls' varsity basketball team looks to end a 33-year regional championship drought on Saturday when it takes on Indian Creek.

The Tiger Cubs face the Braves at noon at Danville, with the winner moving on to face the Lebanon-Mt. Vernon victor on Saturday at 8 p.m., also at Danville.

GHS (15-9) will have a tough hill to climb as each of the teams in the region have a better record this season (Lebanon, 21-3, Mt. Vernon, 19-4, and Indian Creek, 19-5).

Mt. Vernon was the regional champion last year, beating Lebanon and Edgewood.

Indian Creek advanced to the regional final in 2011.

It is Greencastle's first regional appearance since 1993.
