Theta Chapter, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, will host the inaugural "Taste of Delts" fundraising event on Saturday, March 9 from noon to 2 p.m. at Greencastle Christian Church.

This new fundraising event is presented in memory of longtime Delt sister Sharon Evans. Taste of Delts will be a taste sampling of approximately 25 homemade dishes prepared and served by Delt members.

Guests will also receive a booklet containing all of the featured recipes. Additional highlights of the event include a silent auction and food demos by Mary Ann Birt ("Culinary by Mary"), director of the Culinary Arts program at Area 30 Career Center.

With the passing of Sharon Evans last year Delta Theta Tau lost a dear friend, South Putnam Community Schools lost a devoted teacher, and the community lost a tireless advocate for children.

To help carry on Sharon's legacy of caring and education a portion of the proceeds from the Taste of Delts ticket sales and silent auction will go to the Imagination Library and to the Sharon C. Evans Memorial Fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation.

Longtime Indianapolis TV personality "Cowboy Bob" Glaze will attend the March 9 event and the silent auction will include an autographed photo of him.

Other silent auction items include an autographed photo of Dolly Parton, tickets to King's Island, tickets to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, sports apparel and tickets to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased from any active member of Delta Theta Tau and at Eitel's Florist or Curves in Greencastle. A limited number of seats are available.

"We encourage everyone to help us honor Sharon's memory and to continue her commitment to our community through generous giving of our time, talents, and financial resources," Delta Theta Tau representative Cheryl A. Danberry said.
