Congressman Todd Rokita will be the keynote speaker Sunday, May 19 at the Putnam County Republicans' annual Lincoln Day Dinner.

The GOP event is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Community Building on the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Doors will open at noon.

Tickets for the Lincoln Day dinner are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 765-301-0873 or 721-6001.

The Republican fundraiser will also include a 50/50 drawing and auction.

The 43-year-old Rokita, who conducted a "Congress on Your Corner" session last Friday in Greencastle, has represented Indiana's 4th congressional district (which includes all of Putnam County) since 2011.

Rokita previously served as Indiana secretary of state from 2003 to 2011 and ran his office on the same budget used in 1987, while implementing Indiana's landmark voter identification law.

As representative from Indiana's 4th Congressional District, Rokita says he is working to reform the culture of spending, debt and bureaucracy in Washington, D.C.

Rep. Rokita is focusing on stopping excessive federal spending as a member of the influential House Budget Committee, where he succeeded in including portions of his Medicaid block-grant plan as part of the House-passed budget.

He also serves as a subcommittee chairman on the House Education and Workforce Committee, and serves on the House Administration Committee, which oversees election law and other critical issues.

Rokita and his staff are active in supporting charitable causes, and have participated in events for the St. Vincent Cancer Center, Angel Flight, the Find a Book a Home Foundation, and the Angelman Syndrome Foundation.

The Republican congressman also routinely volunteers his time to serve others as a commercial-rated pilot.

Rep. Rokita and his wife Kathy have two sons, Teddy and Ryan. The family resides near Clermont.
