South Putnam grad Doug Greenlee to coach in North-South All-Star game
Doug Greenlee, a 1977 graduate of South Putnam High School, finished his 28th season as a high school baseball coach in Indiana this year.
He finished the season--and after announcing his retirement, his coaching career--with a record of 503-317-3. He still has one more game left in him.
Greenlee will coach the North team in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association North-South All-Star Series this weekend, with games held at Wabash College on Saturday and Sunday.
While he will continue as athletic director, Greenlee is finished with coaching after spending the past 25 years at Kankakee Valley High School.
His brother, Troy, is head basketball coach for the Greencastle High School boys' team.
Kankakee Valley has no players on the roster this season, but it has had nine players selected since 1990.
A Saturday double-header begins at 1 p.m. The final game is Sunday at noon.
There are no Putnam County student-athletes participating in the game.
