STILESVILLE -- A Hendricks County man reportedly sustained minor injuries Tuesday evening after his ultralight aircraft crashed near the Hendricks-Putnam county line.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 7900 block of Masten Road, north of U.S. 40, near Stilesville.

The aircraft reportedly crashed after clipping a tree in the yard of a nearby home.

The pilot, whose name was not released, was the only person on board the aircraft, officials said. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Jerry Johnson of the Mill Creek/Coatesville Fire Department called the pilot "very lucky."

"Any time you come from the sky," Johnson told WTHR, Channel 13, Indianapolis, "I would think it would be a good day when you're able to be taken away and you're talking and conscious and alert."

  • How can anyone not see a tree??? He's on an ultralite--nothing to block his view. Maybe he was texting???
