Hummingbird migration program set Saturday afternoon at McCloud

NORTH SALEM -- McCloud Nature Park will be hosting a free program on hummingbird migration on Saturday, Aug. 31.

Participants will meet with a park naturalist at the Nature Center for a discussion of the life cycle, anatomical features and adaptations, seasonal migration patterns and other behaviors of hummingbirds.

The 2 p.m. program is designed for all ages and will last approximately one hour.

Following the program participants can choose to watch visiting hummingbirds bulk up at the feeder stations in the Nature Center's bird-viewing area, or hike to the prairie and watch for them feeding in the wild.

McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and is located five minutes south of North Salem at 8518 N. Hughes Rd.

Admission is free and the park is open from dawn to dusk daily. The nature center's hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p .m.
