MONROVIA -- The South Putnam volleyball team lost at West Central Conference rival Monrovia on Monday, 25-18, 25-15, 25-21.

The Eagles had a few stretches of dominant play but the consistency of the Bulldogs wore the visitors down.

In the final set senior Emily Clark helped the Eagles build an early 6-2 lead with five-straight service points, including an ace, and South Putnam held the lead until Bulldogs' sophomore Brianna Miller took over at serve.
Miller ran off 12 points in sets two and three against the Eagles, finding open court in the SPHS return alignment and hitting her spots.

Senior Katie McHugh had four sets and a kill in set two, and one more of each in set three. Junior Emily Dobson had two blocks. Senior Kenzie Trisler had five digs, three points and three aces in sets two and three and senior Aubrey Nichols had four points and two aces. Senior Kelly Hayden had two points, one ace and one dig.

The Eagles host Tri-West on Wednesday before traveling to WCC-rival Cloverdale on Thursday. Both games begin with JV action at 6 p.m.
