City Police

One recent property-damage accident was reported by city officers.

-- At 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on the parking lot at Putnam Plaza, north of Indianapolis Road.

Betty Shoemaker, 81, Greencastle, was driving a 2008 Ford down the main traffic lane toward the storefronts when she encountered a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero, being backed from a parking space by Roger Kell Jr., 25, Greencastle.

Shoemaker told Officer Darrell Bunten that she stopped and sounded her horn but that effort failed as the Alero reportedly backed into her Ford.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Ten recent citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Kristin Burgess, 18, Zionsville, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Officer Matt Huffman ticketed a pair of motorbike riders for disregarding the stopsign at Fifth Street and Avenue B. Cited for the infraction were Mark Phillips, 18, Greencastle, and Michael Wallace, 24, Greencastle.

-- At 11:04 p.m. Saturday, William Pitts, 21, West Lafayette, was cited by Officer Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsvillle Street.

-- At 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Officer Eastham stopped a vehicle driven by Curt Hardacre, 20, Anderson, for speeding on Bloomington Street. The driver got a warning for speed but he and passenger Vedant Chandra, 21, Greencastle, were both cited for possession of paraphernalia.

-- At 9:22p.m. Oct. 25, Zhaohui Wang, 24, San Diego, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 8:25 p.m. Oct. 17, Sgt. Charles Inman issued three citations after stopping Nicole Rivers, 25, Greencastle, on Shadowlawn Avenue. Rivers was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.
