Dorothy Mae Bumgardner, 79, of Stilesville, passed away on Sunday, Nov.10, 2013.

She was born on April 9, 1934 in Eubank, Ky., to Joseph Pence and Ethel Perry Pence.

Mrs. Bumgardner co-owned Bumgardner's Service Station in Stilesville for many years with her husband James. The service station has stayed in the family and is currently owned and operated by her son Carlos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; siblings James Pence, Helen Sexton, Lola Bray, Rosemary Glover, Raydean Pence, Offa Layton and Janie Pence; and a beloved great-granddaughter, Kylee Hodge.

Surviving are her children, James Bumgardner Jr. of Waterloo, Iowa, Loretta Bumgardner of Cloverdale, Carlos Bumgardner and wife Leslie of Cloverdale, Lenora Gibson and husband Chris of Crawfordsville, and Shianna Mendenhall and husband Brad of Greencastle; grandchildren Joseph Spurrier and wife Dee, Kevin Spurrier, Bill Bumgardner, Heather Bumgardner, Robert Bumgardner, Jannifer Hodge and husband Wayne, Carlos Bumgardner Jr. and wife Cara, Jessica Sears and Austin Sears; and numerous great-grandchildren, including Melissa, Jessica, Jake, McKynzi, Damon, Hagon and Hallie; great-great grandchildren, including Jaxon, Kaylee, Anzlee, Carson and Carlee; and a great-great-great-grandson, Abel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Chaplain Ben Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow at Stilesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov.13 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
