Emily Wilson to unveil art exhibit Friday at museum

Monday, November 11, 2013

Local artist Emily Wilson will open her art show, "Rural to Sublime," at the Putnam County Museum Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.

Wilson will be giving a short artist talk about the inspiration behind her work at 6:30 p.m., followed by refreshments and a chance to talk to the artist about her work.

The artist will also be available at a meet-and-greet on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Eli's Books/Starbucks.

Wilson grew up in Greencastle and attended DePauw University, graduating in 2013 with a degree in studio art. She is currently an Efroymson fifth-year intern.

Her work mainly focuses on the inspiration that comes from often overlooked aspects of daily life, such as cracks in sidewalks, chipped paint and knots in trees.

Wilson's ultimate wish is for her "viewers to create associations with their own real or imagined landscapes."
