CLOVERDALE -- Due to the threat of inclement weather, the annual Cloverdale Christmas Parade and carriage rides, sponsored by Cloverdale Main Street, will be postponed until next week due to the threat of inclement weather.

The free carriage rides will take place Friday, Dec. 13 from 5-8 p.m. They will depart from the corner of East Columbus Street and U.S. 231 in downtown Cloverdale.

While waiting for rides, children will have the opportunity to have their faces painted by Cloverdale FFA members at the carriage site. There will also be free hot chocolate and cookies at the Pizza Niche courtesy of the Red Hatters.

Participants are also invited to participate in the children's tree lighting, which is located at Don Walton's property across from the Pizza Niche on Main Street.

"We're concerned about the weather and the safety of the people," said Main Street President Kay Gedert.

The "Story Book Christmas" themed parade will take place at Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. and will once again follow the traditional route of U.S. 231 through downtown Cloverdale.

The Cloverdale Girl Scouts will also be handing out free hot chocolate and cookies at the Pizza Niche during the event.

Immediately following the Christmas Parade participants are invited to have their picture taken with Santa for free in the holiday house located across the street from the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department on West Market Street.
