County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 6:25 p.m. on Friday, Brandon Michael Boles, 24, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 1:33 a.m. on Saturday, James Franklin Day Sr., 23, Cloverdale, was booked in for operating while intoxicated with a prior.

At 8:35 p.m. Joshua David Hatten, 24, Cloverdale, was held at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, 12 counts of possession of a controlled substance, operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction, operating per se, intent to distribute and probation violation.

* At 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, William Matthews Sr., 58, Greencastle, was booked in for domestic battery and interfering with law enforcement.

At 3 a.m. Larry Wayne Wolfe Sr., 44, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 8:40 a.m. on Monday, Kyle Thomas Cox, 24, Greencastle, was charged with probation violation.

At 6:08 p.m. Charles William Maybaum, 27, homeless, was booked in for violating a restraining order.

Sheriff's Department

* At 8:57 p.m. on Friday, Gloria E. Butler, 17, Cloverdale, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 1994 Buick Century. The area was under heavy snowfall at the time.

She told Deputy Matt Biggs she began to lose control and tried to steer out of the skid. However, she overcorrected, causing her car to spin 180 degrees.

The car slid backward into a brick retaining wall at 5232 E. U.S. 40. The vehicle came to rest, facing northwest. A mailbox was also damaged.

Damage was estimate at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 7:05 a.m. on Jessica P. Stewart, 21, Greencastle, was northwest bound on SR 240 in a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. At the time, there was light snow and the surface was covered with ice and snow.

Col. Tom Helmer said tire marks indicated the car left the travel portion of the road on the north side, traveling approximately 70 feet with the right tires on the snow covered shoulder before returning to the road.

The car went another 100 feet before leaving the road, again on the north side, down a grass embankment before coming to rest in bushes.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
