South Putnam senior Brooke Cundiff came one step closer to fulfilling a lifelong dream recently, committing to enroll at Anderson University where she hopes to play second base for the school's softball team.

A member the Eagles' two state-championship teams, Cundiff said the decision to pick Anderson was an easy one.

"I just had a good feel about it when I took my visit," Cundiff said. "It's a small school and it has a little environment. ... You can tell that it's filled with a lot of fun people."

Cundiff hit .418 for the Eagles last season, including two doubles and a triple.

She was also a consistent fielder, using her agility to allow the SPHS first baseman to cheat toward the plate on bunts and cover ground for force outs at second.

Cundiff said she began playing softball when she was just six years old and started her summer travel ball career when she was nine.

The Ravens finished the 2013 season 31-18 and advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series.

Given her team's success during high school, Cundiff should fit right in at Anderson, and fitting on a college softball team has been something she hoped for since she began playing.

"Ever since I was a little girl I just dreamed of playing college softball," Cundiff said. "I just wanted to go to a small school and enjoy it and experience everything new. I'm just following my dreams."
