Stellar Progress

Friday, December 27, 2013

The building at 25 W. Franklin St. has come a long way from the day green metal siding began to be stripped away in August 2012 to the near-finished product that now defines the northeast corner of Franklin and Jackson streets in Greencastle. Construction workers from Advance Restoration Contractors, Indianapolis, started tearing sheet metal off the Amy and Tad Robinson-owned building on Aug. 14, 2012, and as 2014 is about to arrive appear to be done with the building exterior. The Stellar Program began with the March 2011 announcement of Greencastle's $19 million grant. While work continues around the square in various stages, progress can be readily seen. "It really is getting close to getting finished, it really is," Mayor Sue Murray told the Redevelopment Commission recently. "It's moving along, and that's the wonderful part."

  • If I remember correctly, the white building next to the Robinson building, was a small diner operated by Roscoe Scott who I believe is Jinsie Bingham's father. I remember it was not very big in the 1960's. Does anyone else remember it?
