Carolyn Ann Griswold

Carolyn Ann Griswold, 74, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.

Born May 8, 1939 in Belle Union, she was the daughter of James Moses and Nellie Mae (Madden) Childress.

She married Lorn E. "Popcorn" Griswold on May 4, 1956, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2001.

Carolyn was a custodian with Mill Creek Community Schools for more than 25 years, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Larry (Lisa) Griswold, Mark (Roberta) Griswold and Tommy (Candice) Childress; a daughter, Carolyn Wise; two brothers, Jim (Barbara) Childress and Johnny Childress; a sister, Patricia Frazier; five granddaughters Whitney, Paige, Kelly, Samantha and Danean; a step-granddaughter, Brandi (Jesse); great-grandchildren Ricky, Ben, Layla, Lee, Rodney, Stevie and Lathen; and a great-great-grandson, Little Dude.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and a brother, Wayne "Bud" Childress.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Brian Palmer Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Stilesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the American Heart Association.
