Dr. John P. Jackson

Dr. John P. Jackson, 62, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014.

Dr. Jackson was born on Jan. 2, 1952 in Warsaw to Paul and Jean Jackson.

Following his graduation from Greencastle High School, Dr. Jackson joined the Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After his military service, he went on to attend and graduate from Indiana State University and Logan College of Chiropractic.

In 1981 he began Jackson Chiropractic in Bainbridge. Here he devoted his life to not only helping people, but providing a listening ear and giving encouragement. Because of the genuine care he demonstrated to each of his patients, he came to view many of them as friends, and they him.

In his free time, Dr. Jackson enjoyed spending time outside with his sons and taking golf cart rides with Sherry and his dogs.

Dr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father, Paul Jackson, and his wife of 26 years, Marti Jackson.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Jackson; his brothers, Bill (Nancy) Jackson and Jim Jackson; his sister, Ellen Jackson; his loving partner, Sherry Doyle; his two sons, Jay (Hannah) Jackson and Jonathan (Jenalee) Jackson; and his two grandsons, Lucas and Henry Jackson.

Dr. Jackson also had a special place in his heart for Jennasis and Jeremiah Myers and he enjoyed being their Grandpa John.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Union Chapel Cemetery in Morton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 12 from 4-8 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
