Total team effort by Cubs yields girls' soccer win
The tone was set early for the Lady Tiger Cubs as their first two goals were gained during the first five minutes of the team's 7-0 soccer win at Monrovia on Monday. Madeline Graham scored the first goal, with an assist by Katie Kessler.
Shortly after Graham's goal Kessler continued her aggressive streak, to land her own goal into the net. The next 30 minutes provided clean passing and powerful defensive play from Megan Friars, Mallary Meyer, Vicky Sampson, Ruth Heithaus, Catie Anderson and Amelia Smith who finished with 10 saves.
A third goal right before the half by Graham brought the score to 3-0.
The second half started off strong again with several shots on goal by the Tiger Cubs.
"The team played very well tonight with positive connections to each other and on the ball," GHS coach Angela Weeks said.
Four more goals were sent to the back of the net by Hannah Brattain, Grace Gillen (2) and Sydney Secrest.
The Tiger Cubs kept their aggressiveness up with 34 shots on goal.
