Prof. Steve Timm's 'Steve Here 2.0' staged through Sunday at DPU
The DePauw University Theatre is presenting "Steve Here 2.0," an original play written and directed by Steve Timm, professor of communication and theater.
The production opens Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Moore Theatre of the Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts at DePauw.
Performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22, followed by a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m.
The play is a collection of monologues and vignettes as the main character, Steve, goes on a hike with newcomer, Kent.
Each monologue, featuring a character outside of Steve's hiking sphere, dives into the psyche of individuals seeking solace and meaning in the vanishing wilderness. Audience members will find themselves on a new journey with every character on stage.
Some of the pieces include adult language and situations.
"Steve Here 2.0" is inspired by Professor Timm's personal encounters during his sabbatical travels to the Everglades, rivers of Montana, isolated waterways of northern Florida and boreal forests of the north country.
These encounters have shaped the nightmares, fears, shortcomings and creatures that Timm's characters face on their journeys. The play is a follow up to Timm's 2007 "Steve Here."
Theater-goes are invited to the cast and crew for an opening night reception in the Great Hall following Thursday's performance, and for a talkback session following the Friday show.
Tickets are $6 for general admission and $3 for students.
