CLOVERDALE -- Quick thinking by a Cloverdale mother led to a house fire being quickly extinguished by the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department (CTVFD) Thursday afternoon.

According to Cloverdale Fire Chief Kerry Shepherd, the residence at 618 Pumpkin Place caught fire after a burning brush pile spread to home around 2:30 p.m.

The home caught fire when burning leaves blew underneath the residence, igniting a single room of the home from below.

The brush was being burned by residents.

The occupant, Victoria Corder, was home with her two small children when the fire occurred.

CTVFD was able to contain the fire to one room before completely extinguishing it, but smoke damage was present throughout the entire structure.

Corder's speedy call to 911 helped keep damage to a minimum.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
