Shaffer qualifies for State

EVANSVILLE--As the only Putnam County represenative in the 2015 IHSAA wrestling State semifinal, South Putnam's sophomore Kyle Shaffer pulled out a second-place finish in the match at Evansville on Saturday. Wrestling in the 182-weight class Shaffer went to the championship round before losing to Evan Elmore from Avon in an ultimate tie-breaker 4-6.
Shaffer will be wrestling at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday for a chance at the State Championship. With a season-record of 39-1, he is seeded sixth. Shaffer will be wreslting Hunter Hiestand, a senior from Yorktown, to start the finals. Hiestand is seeded 11th with a record of 46-5.
