ROACHDALE -- North Putnam's softball had a tough time against South Montgomery on Saturday losing 2-0, while the baseball team fought valiantly against Tri-West but fell behind early and never got the game close. The boys fell 15-5.

While Sabrina Surber's pitching kept the Mounties at bay, the Lady Cougars just couldn't get to home plate.

North Putnam had a good opportunity to get a victory as its defensive game held the Mounties scoreless through the first five innings.

The Cougars only committed one error with only one passed ball and Surber collected eight strikeouts.

Batting played the biggest part for North Putnam, which only recorded a single on the day, courtesy of Sierra Spencer.

The Lady Cougars will next play at Cascade Monday in the first of two games against the Cadets.

The baseball team scored a run in each of the first and the second. But it was no match for Tri-West's four and two runs in the first and second.

North Putnam could not keep the Bruins in check and Tri-West scored in every inning.

Daniel Huffman notched two hits and Kaine Benge went for five strikeouts in his three innings.
