100 Women Who Care meet Wednesday for latest donation effort

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

It's back to school for Putnam County schools and back to giving for 100 Women Who Care.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the 100 Women Who Care Putnam County will meet for the third time this year to give back to a deserving non-profit in the community. The event is sponsored by Hendricks Power and will take place at the Inn at DePauw beginning with a social hour from 5-6 p.m., followed by the meeting from 6-7 p.m.

Theme for the evening is Back to School. Wear your school colors to show your support for education in Putnam County.

Bring a friend and come find out who will join The Castle Program and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Non-food Pantry as a 2015 recipient. The Castle Program will share an update with the group on how the $8,500 it received at the February meeting is being used.

IT's not too late to become member. Here's how it works: 100 Women Who Care Putnam County is a group of women who share a common desire to give back to the community. The group is open to all women -- the more women who get involved, the greater the impact will be!

The group allows busy women to become involved by giving back to the local community in a fun way. Members meet four times each year for one hour. At each meeting, members may submit the name of a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity or a government entity to be included in a drawing. Three submissions are drawn. Each of those selected are given five minutes to present the organization and its services. Questions may be asked following the presentation.

At the end of the presentations, members vote, ballots are counted, and a winner is announced. Each member then contributes $100 to the selected nonprofit. The total commitment for the year is $500. $100 is donated to the Putnam County Community Foundation for the 100 Women Who Care Endowment, and $100 is donated to each of the four charities chosen throughout 2015.
