County Jail

Six people were booked into the Putnam County jail on Tuesday.

* At 10 a.m. Paul Edward Cummins, 38, Danville, was arrested on a warrant.

* At 10:15 a.m. Daniel Richard Sparks, 28, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of marijuana.

* At 11:51 a.m. Kissandra Michelle Carr, 38, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 12:45 p.m. Patricia A. Davis, 61, no city listed, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 5:20 p.m. Josephus Allen Crank, 26, Greencastle, was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident.

* At 6:13 p.m. Keith Richard O'Clair, 25, Avon, was booked in for on a warrant and for possession of a syringe and driving while intoxicated.

City Police

One recent shoplifting incident was investigated by Greencastle City Police.

Officer Nick Eastham was called to the Dollar General store on Indianapolis Road at 1:25 p.m. Saturday to investigated a reported theft.

Arrested was Michael Mikesell, 28, Greencastle, charged with theft for allegedly taking $13.11 worth of merchandise.

Mikesell reportedly took razors, mouthwash, toothpaste, a toothbrush and hair ties, concealing the items in his pants pocket, police said.

Two recent speeding citations were issued by city officers.

* At 10:09 a.m. Sunday, Dayne Switzer, 40, Danville, was ticketed by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Switzer was cited for 49 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 4:42 a.m. Sunday, Adrianne Brinkman, 30, Indianapolis, was cited by Capt. Charles Inman.

Stopped on North Jackson Street, Brinkman was ticketed for 45 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to four property damage accidents due to slick roads during Monday's rain.

* At 7:30 a.m., Rebecca Snyder, 42, Harmony, was westbound on County Road 450 South in a 2007 Toyota Yaris.

Snyder told Lt. Donnie Pettit that as she rounded the curve onto County Road 150 West, she hit a deer.

The car then slid off the west side of the road due to wet pavement, hitting a fence and a tree.

The car had to be towed from the scene. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 5:25 p.m. Michael P. Jordan, 29, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching the intersection of U.S. 40 in a 1999 Ford F150. Traffic was stopped at the intersection.

Jordan told Lt. Pettit he tried to brake but lost control on wet pavement. His truck slid into the 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier driving by Markus L. Witt, 33, Greencastle, who was slowing to stop.

The impact pushed Witt's car into the stopped 2003 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Taylor M. Gray, 23, Cloverdale.

All three vehicles were driven from the scene. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 5:33 p.m. Steve Mitchell, 55, Coatesville, was southbound on Count Road 825 East approaching a sharp curve in a 2011 Dodge Ram.

Mitchell told Deputy Virgil Lanning he applied his brakes but due to wet conditions, he slid off the roadway. The truck slid into a telephone box, destroying it.

The truck was driven from the scene. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:07 p.m. Athena R. Siddons, 32, Poland, was eastbound on County Road 25 North in a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville.

Siddons told Deputy Mike Downing that as she approached the T intersection with County Road 225 East, her braked locked up and she slide through the intersection on the wet pavement.

She tried to regain control but the car slid into a ditch, rolling onto the passenger side.

Siddons and her three children were able to crawl from the vehicle and walk to the nearest house.

Operation Life and the Greencastle Fire Department provided medical attention to all four patients.

Siddons told Downing she didn't have insurance and her license was suspended. She also said her 11-year-old was not restrained.

Downing cited her for all three infractions.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* Deputies worked one additional accident on Tuesday.

At 9:30 p.m., Adrian W. Peters, 17, Greencastle, was sitting stationary on County Road 275 East waiting to turn onto S.R. 240 in a 2005 Ford Focus.

Peters told Deputy Matt Biggs that a white GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck turned onto County Road 275 East, swinging wide and hitting the driver's side of his car.

Peters said the other driver then fled the scene. His only further description of the truck was that it appeared to be lifted higher than its original factory settings.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

* At 4:43 p.m. Sunday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. The alarm was caused by hair care products.

* At 11:23 p.m. Monday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 110 E. Larabee St., which was caused by smoking.

* At 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, GFD assisted with a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jackson Street and Veterans Memorial Highway. The department assisted with the patient and with clean up.

* At 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 415 S. Locust St. A detector was activated, but the reason was unknown.

* At 6:09 p.m. Tuesday, GFD assisted with manpower and traffic control following a motor vehicle accident on East County Road 25 North.

* At 10:11 p.m. Tuesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 509 S. Locust St. The department extinguished a small trash can fire.

* At 10:29 p.m. Tuesday, GFD assisted with an extrication from machinery at 2200 E. State Road 240.

* At 3:36 p.m. Wednesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 507 S. Locust St. A pull station had been activated.

* At 5:22 a.m. Thursday, GFD investigated a trash fire at Dunbar Bridge. The department extinguished mattresses that had been set on fire.

* At 7:07 a.m. Thursday, GFD assisted with first aid and extrication of a patient after a motor vehicle accident on Waterworks Hill.
