CLOVERDALE -- Incumbent Cheryl Galloway will continue to serve as the clerk-treasurer of Cloverdale with a close win of just nine votes.

Galloway, a Republican, topped independent Robyn Hughes with a 113-104 vote.

This will be Galloway's second term, and she said she is looking forward to continuing to serve the community.

"I want to keep the momentum going. We have gotten three grants, replaced the meters and we are $1 million ahead of where the town was four years ago," Galloway said after the polls closed Tuesday.

"The town is healthy, but there is still a lot of work to do."

Looking forward, Galloway said she hopes the town is able to replace sidewalks and pave several roads in town. She stressed the importance of also drawing in new businesses.

Galloway stressed her appreciation to the people of the town who have supported and voted for her.

In addition, three town council members will maintain their positions, as they ran unopposed.

Gary Bennington will hold the at-large seat, Larry Fidler will fill the Ward 1 spot and Don Sublett will maintain the Ward 2 position.
