ROACHDALE -- With the techniques used by fraudsters and identity thieves constantly changing, the Roachdale Public Library will host an event on Saturday, Jan. 9 aimed at helping consumers protect themselves and their information.

Presented by the office of Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller, "Don't Be a Victim: Protect Yourself from Scams and Identity Theft" will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the library, 100 E. Washington St., Roachdale.

The discussion will include information on the latest scams and techniques used by fraudsters via phone, email and direct mail. Also discussed will be the importance of protecting personal information.

Even vigilant consumers can find themselves a victim of such crimes, so the meeting will also include advice on requesting and reviewing your credit report and how to report anything fraudulent, as well as how to freeze your credit.

Visit www.IndianaConsumer.com for more information on the outreach efforts of the Attorney General's Office or the latest scams.
